I’m a cat lover
Mike posted all about the cats in his life after someone else did, so I thought I would do the same since my cats are a big part of my life. Life for me would not be right if there was not at least one cat around me. I’ve had cats in my life since I starting walking (maybe even before!). Unfortunately, I’ve loved and lost a few cats in my time, which is the hardest part of having any kind of pet.
Miles
Miles is my favourite (shh! Don’t tell Tiesto - I really shouldn’t play favourites). I got him from my parents for my 21st birthday as I had lost a cat the year previously. Miles isn’t a big cat, but he isn’t small. He does look quite big though as he is a huge fluff ball, especially in the winter.
The moment I saw him, I fell in love with him. He was a cute little thing with cute kitten blue eyes (now green as with a lot of cats) and a bright pink nose. Unfortunately, after a couple of days, I noticed that he had been taken from his mother too early. We got him from a place that provides feed to farmers etc, and they also sell animals ranging from puppies to chicks and, of course, kittens, which I guess they get from farms. He was a suckler, and he still suckles on my jumper or tshirt at least once a day, leaving a nice wet patch.
Miles is now 3 years old. He’s completely arrogant. If you talk to him, he will ignore you. He will only accept cuddles and pets if he initiates, not the other way around. But this is his charm, and what I love about him. He’ll give me attention when he wants to and wants attention himself, not when I want to give him attention. Miles is an indoor-outdoor cat, depending on the weather and arrogance. He spends a lot of time in the next door neighbours yard, where it’s nice and quiet.
Other characteristics: intelligent, lazy and has a limp due to an abscess that went right through his leg when he was a kitten. Miles was named by someone on deviantART.com.
Tiesto
Tiesto was also a birthday present, but from myself to myself. I got him for my 22nd birthday. I got him from the same place as Miles and I have fond memories of bringing him home as I walked quite far carrying him in a box. Amazingly, he didn’t have a hard time being carried in a box, besides meowing a couple of times and going to the toilet in there.
Everyone loved Tiesto right from the word go. He’s easily one of the friendliest cats you’ll ever meet. He’s the opposite of Miles. He isn’t arrogant at all and in fact, as soon as you call him, he will come running to you, meow at you and if you pick him up, he will rub his face all over yours. It’s sweet. He loves a cuddle and to sit on peoples shoulders (who needs a parrot?).
He’s also quite an odd cat when it comes to food. Unlike Miles, who is very picky about his food, Tiesto will eat pretty much everything. His favourite food is cucumber and watermelon, amongst other things. Just last night, when he had the choice of chicken or brocolli, he chose the brocolli.
Tiesto is 2 years old and likes to sleep a lot. He’s also an indoor-outdoor cat like Miles, generally sleeping inside or outside in the garden. He doesn’t go far, except down the road a little to watch the kittens up the road play, and across the road. He’ll never learn that if he leaves the yard, the birds will attack him from all directions.
Other characteristics: playful, sharp and a very loud and annoying meower. He was given the name Tiesto by Zeta, though he isn’t named after the DJ.
Other Pets
While Miles and Tiesto are (technically) my cats, we have two family dogs, Kiss and Cuddles (lol - I know). I don’t mind dogs, though I don’t like their barking. Cuddles is a Rhodesian Ridgeback x Labrador (he looks a bit like a dingo actually with his huge ears), I’m not sure what Kiss is.

Aw, Miles is such an adorable fluff! You have such beautiful pets :D

Mike - Thanks :)
Peter - I couldn’t imagine Miles without the suckling now. It can be somewhat comforting. :D

Aww, they’re so cute - I have two cats as well, Kali and Sheru.
Actually, it seems to me most people active in internet-related industries have cats, somehow; maybe because we don’t have to leave our computers to walk them. Not to mention they love computers, just like we do.
Wish I could have a dog too, though that’s much more difficult to manage in a unit.
So what’s your deviantArt username?
Ema - I think I’d have to agree with you. Most people I know in internet-related industries do have cats. Never thought about it before.
My deviantART username is nyssi.
