Saturday Colour Schemes: Common Blue, Demoiselle, Ginger Nut, Small Copper
I’ve been wanting to do a regular post of some sort for a while now, and this will be the start of one: colour schemes that are available to download as a Photoshop palette and CSS.
Why are they any different to any other colour schemes online? They aren’t really any different, to be honest. Colour schemes are colour schemes, full stop.
How I make these colour schemes:
All of my colour schemes are created using my own photography from the archives on my computer. I have approximately 10,400 photos (that’s about 20GB) at my disposal for colour schemes (and many other things, of course). That is where all the colour schemes I share will be coming from. Hopefully I’ll post some unique colour schemes along the way (which will be hard to say the least, since there are colour schemes everywhere we look online). I’ll be posting 4 colour schemes every Saturday. Obviously, not everyone will like the colour schemes I put out. I don’t even like some of them myself!
The name of each colour scheme will also give you some indication of what the photo was that I used to created the colour scheme (could be an animal or location, for example).
What do the zip files contain?
Each download contains a Photoshop ACO/ACT file, XHTML & CSS files and an image preview. Hopefully in the future, I’ll be able to add other files for other programmes.

Very nice Nyssa, do you use Kuler at all?
What a great idea. Looking pretty good! Although my favourite is Small Copper
@Phil: Nope, don’t use any of those sites, though have browsed Kuler (and the others) a couple of times.
@Zeta: Really? I wouldn’t have picked those colours as your type! lol
Cool.. I just came to think of COLOURlovers who does almost the same thing also - and additionally giving some really nice articles which are colourrelated..
Liked Ginger and Common blue best…
@S4pphire: Yeah, I’m aware of COLOURlovers. I’ve been there a couple of times in the past looking for ideas (though, never really got any - besides now, doing my own colour schemes)
This is a really interesting idea, Nyssa. Seriously!
Although I’ve come across people using a photo to determine a colour scheme, I’ve never thought about doing it myself, and I’ve definitely never thought about sharing them.
Like I said, nice idea.
Thanks Armen. Doing it yourself seems a good option, typically because you can choose which colours from photos you actually want to use (perhaps the foreground, the background or the subject if there is one). :)
I would of thought you would of started with pink :giggle: :P
lol! Well Kym, I’m actually going through a green phase at the moment :P
[...] all the details here [...]
Nyssa, that’s perfect! Most of all I like colour scheme “Small Cooper”, it reminds me about golden autumn 2007.
